Doulas at GROW

When you hire a doula, you are on your way to a positive, empowering birth and postpartum. We’d love to support you!

Birth Doula Services

Having skilled and compassionate labor support whose sole job is to care for you and your family is an invaluable asset to any birth, whether you are planning to receive pain medication at some point in your labor or plan to labor without an epidural. A doula provides advocacy and emotional, physical, and informational support to help you have the best birth possible. We have a team of a dozen skilled and experienced birth doulas who we match you to based off location, experiences, and your birth desires.

Why work with a GROW Birth Doula?

  • Shorter labors with fewer complications.

  • Reduced need for interventions including pitocin as a labor-augmenting method, vacuum and forceps assisted births.

  • A lower likelihood of cesarean birth.

  • A higher likelihood of an unmedicated birth if desired.

  • A greater sense of satisfaction of the birth as a whole.

  • We connect you with one or more of our doulas based on what you’re looking for, and you get to decide who feels like the best fit for your birth. Inviting someone into your birth is a big deal, and we want you to start feeling empowered to make that choice from the very beginning.

Overnight doula support gives families the chance to truly rest while a trained professional cares for the baby and maintains a calm, safe nighttime routine. Doulas help with soothing, feeding, diaper changes, and sleep support so parents can wake up feeling more confident and restored.

GROW also partners with experienced pediatric sleep specialists who use gentle, evidence-based techniques to understand your baby’s rhythms and create a personalized sleep plan. Families seek this support anytime throughout the first years when they need extra tools and guidance to navigate sleep challenges and help everyone rest more easily.

  • Your doula will be a calming, confident presence and support during the weeks leading up to your birth, during your labor, and in the transitional time postpartum. They will help you navigate the information coming your way in your labor so that you can make informed decisions about your care.

During your pregnancy, your doula will be a resource to you for questions, conversation, and education, as well as for specific referrals for care including acupuncture, physical therapy, chiropractic, massage, etc. They can assist with writing your birth wishes and planning out everything you envision for your birth. For those with young children, your doula can work with you to prepare the big brother or sister for meeting the baby.

    During labor, your doula will:

    • Help you find more comfortable positions while you are in labor and specific movements to help your labor progress.

    • Apply comfort measures such as counter-pressure on your back and hips, and teach your partner how to take on these support roles if they wish.

    • Carry you through the intensity of contractions with breathing techniques and emotional support. We've got you!

    • Be an extra pair of hands to help with all the little yet important things that come up such as giving your partner a break if needed, bringing cool cloths and ice chips, refilling waters, etc.

    • Be a calming force with massage, reassuring words, and support.

    • Continuously look for ways to connect you and your partner if you have one.

    • Be an advocate for your birth wishes and work with you throughout your labor to ensure that you are respected, informed, and in control of decision-making.

  • here’s nothing more valuable to a new parent than a good night’s sleep, which can be hard to come by in those first weeks after baby’s arrival. You and your baby are in great hands in the overnight care of a GROW postpartum doula.

    Overnight care includes:

Feeding baby, or bringing baby to you for breast/chest feeding; lactation or pumping support; diaper changes; soothing baby during night wakings; quiet baby-related house chores while baby is sleeping (dishes, folding laundry, tidying baby things, etc.); help establish healthy sleep habits for baby.

  • Our birth doulas all set their one price for their services ranging from $1800-$2500 depending what each doula offers and their experience.

While we know this feels like an investment, it is important to remember that when you are hiring a doula, they are clearing their calendar for up to 5 weeks to be able to drop what they are doing to support you and be fully present for your entire birth.

While each doula has a slightly different structure, this price includes prenatal visits, continuous labor support, and a postpartum visit, which for most first time births results in an average of 24 hours of support, not including on call time.

  • Hiring a GROW Doula means you are being matched with compassionate, experienced professional support for you and your partner as you journey through this time of pregnancy, birth and postpartum.

Once you are matched with a GROW doula, you will set up an interview time with them to see if they feel like the right fit for your birth. Your private doula will have their own contract fees ranging depending on the doula, and carry their own liability insurance. Specific terms of the contract will be set up with the doula you hire according to their own LLC. Please note, your doula is not an employee of GROW and GROW holds no liability for the doula. Rather, we are recommending local independent doulas who we trust.

In submitting your request, please include with information about your due date and anything specific that will help us match you with the right doula. A free consultation will be set up as a next step. Click the buttons on this page to set up a free consultation, or email hello@growfamilyvt.com.
